2008 is almost a quarter over and things have moved on the Modern Scene. A marked increase in the number of newer Modern tracks being played in main rooms. Also some new stuff on CD, but some dissapointments as well.

First a bit of review.

Village Soul Volume 2 - Expansion CD - 17 tracks

Track listing on this is a mixture of borderline Northern  and soulfull house which should give a perfect example of the Modern scene, but some of the tracks are so weak that it doesn't do it justice. Adeva's offering on here is bland, as is Larry London Project's Love Like That. Yes these tracks are modern but they are merely here to make up the numbers and try to represent Soulfull house. But my biggest gripe with this CD is the awful mix of my biggest track over the last 5 years, Michael Proctors stunning Love Don't Live. I agree that you couldn't put the full 8mins of this track on the CD but the edit could have been much better.

There are a couple of bright lights, Midnights complete crossover offering, Keep On Walking By is brilliant and should be huge in 2008 also a fabulous Chuck Jackson track - Wait In Vain.

If this is supposed to show Modern Soul in its true light then there should be more of the good stuff and less fillers. I can't help thinking that the compilation of this CD has been restricted by the permissions available.

2. Wait In Vain - Jackson, Chuck
